Ocean Temperatures at Florida Beaches in Fall
The tables below give the monthly averages for ocean temperatures at Florida beaches in degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius for September, October and November.
The list of beaches runs from south to north along the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Water cools slowly and steadily throughout fall along Florida's coasts. But in southern Florida from St. Petersburg on the Gulf of Mexico and Daytona Beach on the Atlantic Ocean to the Florida Keys the water normally stays above 70 °F (21 °C) right into November.
The Gulf coast starts off warmer in September than the Atlantic side, but the Gulf of Mexico cools more rapidly. So by October, Gulf temperatures match those in the Atlantic.
On both coasts, the water cools faster the farther north you go. In November, the water off southern Florida can be 10 °F (6 °C) warmer than at the state's northern beaches.
