Average temperatures for the month of August in the largest US cities are listed below in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius.

The tables give the normals for maximum and minimum temperatures based on weather data collected from 1991 to 2020 by the US National Centers for Environmental Information.

Hot weather descends in August upon many of America's large cities where daily temperatures average highs of 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (27 to 32 degrees Celsius). The hottest, Phoenix and Las Vegas, usually get over 100 °F (38 °C) each day. The coolest cities during August are along the Pacific coast, notably Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego.
